Link to article on St. Edwards site. AUSTIN, Texas - Freshman Kristen Hart scored her first collegiate goal in the 76th minute to lead the sixth-ranked St. Edward's women's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Texas Woman's Sunday afternoon at the SEU Soccer Field. St. Edward's (5-0-1) peppered the opponent's goal with 12 shots during the match, taking six in each half. Seven of those shots were on goal but Texas Woman's goalkeeper Nori Morgan was equal to the task providing three saves each half. Finally, in the 76th minute, newly inserted Hart (Freshman, Coppell, Texas) charged the net near and got her head on a cornerkick from Emily Arnold (Senior, Tyler, Texas) and put it past Morgan near post for the game-winning goal. "I was just trying to get a play on the cornerkick," Hart said. "The goalkeeper missed the cross and I got a piece of it and played it near post. It might have hit a couple of players on the way in, but it's whatever works." The Hilltopper defense was very stingy, allowing just two shots on the afternoon with one of them being on goal. |
